Introducing Curtocircuíto’s visual identity for 2021

News

Curtocircuíto - International Film Festival reveals the visual identity for its 18th edition, which is inspired by ARDF, a minority sport that, like the festival, consists of exploring uncharted territory by receiving signals beyond what the eyes can see, and is suitable for all genders and ages.

ARDF is the acronym for Amateur Radio Direction Finding, a recreational sport practiced mainly in the Nordic countries, Eastern Europe, Russia, and China. It is a timed race in which individual participants use a topographical map, magnetic compass, and direction-finding devices to navigate through wooded terrain. Through their receivers, the runners tune in to radio signals carrying sounds and secret messages that help them complete the race in the shortest possible time.

"ARDF brings together many of the values and ideas that shape our programme each year, such as our will to explore uncharted territories and our interest in science, sound art and analogue technology", says the festival's artistic director Pela del Álamo. "This popular sport, which prioritises solidarity and cooperative values and generates spaces of respect and coexistence, has a lot to do with the kind of cinema that survives outside mainstream formulas, supplying festivals and cinemas with the most personal and innovative proposals one can find, year after year".

This edition’s visual identity has been developed by the festival’s artistic directors, overseen by Pela del Álamo, together with Alicia Alonso and Emilio Horyaans. All the images used in this campaign are hosted openly on the website ardf2019.hamradio.si/gallery. The first images for this year's edition have been uploaded today. Up to a total of 11 different designs will be posted throughout the festival.

Curtocircuíto - Santiago de Compostela International Film Festival is organised by the City Council of Santiago de Compostela and financed, among others, by the Diputación de A Coruña, AGADIC and the ICAA.
